Our curriculum objectives link together through the same aim: To help each child reach their maximum potential within a happy Catholic environment.
Our Curriculum intent is to create a happy, stimulating and caring Catholic environment which will herald the message of Christ within the community and where each child will feel confident and secure.
At Sacred Heart children learn the H.E.A.R.T values shared in our school:
Hard – Working
We live out these values and reward pupils who have excelled with H.E.A.R.T points.
We want all pupils to have a command of key skills in English and the ability to communicate well through the spoken and written word. Reading has a heightened profile in school and our teachers work hard to encourage an enjoyment of reading.
We develop a working knowledge and understanding of key mathematical concepts and operations; deepening our understanding through fluency, reasoning and problem solving.
Knowledge is key when developing cultural capital. At Sacred Heart, pupils receive a broad and varied curriculum. Skills are built on each year and developed so that new knowledge can be gained and remembered in our long term memory. Links between ideas are made and a deeper understanding acquired.
An enjoyment of physical activities, drama, movement and mime, together with a range of recreational games and skills encourage an enquiring mind. Through the provision of a stimulating environment in which both pupil and teacher can develop their knowledge, skills and values; we all grow together and share in our Catholic mission.
For Religious Education we follow the ‘Come and See’ program as advised by the Nottingham Diocese. You can find more information about the content of this curriculum at:
At Sacred Heart we follow the National Curriculum (2014). Find our more information below.
